My Ipsy Glam Bag Collection

I love Michelle Phan. I love her dream and passion for life. Today I received my 3rd ipsy glam bag since I subscribed to it.

We ladies often have difficulties with choosing the right beauty products that suit us. And to make the selection easier, in cooperation with the beauty product brands, Michelle Phan and her Ipsy team are working on creating product samples that are personalized for every single one of us.

They thought “It is great to try and know different brands’ different products before making an investment and facing uncertainty” and they are right! And the glam bag subscription costs only $10 a month.

I truly believe in Michelle Phan, so I naturally believe in and support Ipsy mission too. So far, I’have been very satisfied with what I’ve been able to experiment with through Ipsy, and here are what I received in my glam bags.

Dreamers – April Glam BagIMG_6734

Destination Chic – May Glam Bag

The motto is “Ready, Set, Adventure! Whether you’re hitting the road or enjoying a staycation, we want to hear all about it!”

Rebel Rebel – June Glam Bag

The concept is “Misfits. Rule breakers. Badass babes. The riot starts this June. We’re hitting the streets with serious sizzle and signature looks. Coloring outside of the lines is encouraged. Sitting on the side of the lines is not.”

And that’s all I received in my make up bags and I am very happy to present them to you. 🙂

Enjoy Life!

No Bread, Nice Skin

It has been a week without eating any bread (not even a croissant!) and I have survived. And not only have I survived, but also a magical thing happened in the last 3 days of my “No Bread Week” challenge.

The thing is that ever since I moved to Frankfurt 8 months ago, I had been afflicted with bad pimples. I didn’t know where they came from, but they appeared since I moved here in Frankfurt. But since the last 3 days of my “No Bread Week” challenge, the pimples keep disappearing and now my skin looks and feels almost as good as ever.

And I have always known that my face skin was the reflection of my stomach function. Whenever a disfunction occurs in my stomach, my face skin reflects it. And there was no exception this time also.

What I am trying to say is that last year around this time I found out that I had lactose and fructose intolerance. So when I developed increasing stomach gas problem, followed by bad pimples, I had thought that my lactose and fructose intolerance must have gotten worse.

But it turns out they are are innocent! And it seems that bread had been slowing down my stomach function and breaking things down. How so? Watch below video of Terry for the explanation. moving-animated-eyes-finger-pointing-down

So because I am very satisfied with my one weekNo Bread” challenge, I am going to extend the term by another one month and see what other magic things will happen.

bye-for-now-glitter-for-orkut-scrapWill keep you posted and stay beautiful in the meantime!

How to Style My Hair?

How to style my hair? This question is becoming of an increasing concern to me lately…

Where does it come from? I think it has to do with the changes I am going through lately…

You know, because I never went through a milestone to declare me as a woman or make me feel like a woman (meaning never became a mother or a wife at this old age of 33+), I never felt like one. Instead, I always remained a girl at heart and this feeling conveyed itself through different ways in me with my hairstyle being the most prominent.

So what is a girl’s hairstyle versus a woman’s hairstyle?

Well, quite simply, it is a ponytail and/or donut versus every other hairstyle.

If you know me personally, you certainly know my ponytail look. But if you don’t, imagine just a simple ponytail with middle-length dark hair. And that’s my look 90% of the time outside and in the remaining 10%, I let my hair fall down in rare occassions of date nights or events when I need to dress up and don’t have to do any focused thinking.

And when I am sitting still and thinking, especially working or studying, I HAVE TO have my hair tied up. Otherwise, the hair seems to be interfering with my toughts and I can’t think straight. Sounds strange? Well, that’s me!

And when I am at home, I usually have my donut on my head. And when I do, this is how I look. moving-animated-eyes-finger-pointing-down

Kidding! This one pointing-finger-down-animated-1

In fact, as I type this story, this is exactly how I look now. I took this picture right before sitting down to write. So it’s a real time picture.

And because they are special, I want to introduce you to two accessories of mine on this picture. The first one is the pair of lady bug earrings. Lady-Bugs-MoonThe reason why I am wearing them is that these days I need a lot of luck as I am venturing into new territories both at work and play. And the reason why this pair of earrings is associated with luck is that in Turkish language, the lady bug is called “Uğur böceği” or “Good luck bug” in English. So I believe in the Turkish version of the bug’s name and believing in the name and wearing these earrings brings me tons of luck.

And the next accessory that I wanted to introduce to you is the green necklace, which I call the “Summer” necklace.

When I wear this necklace, I feel that the Summer is inside me, with its full-blown colorful flowers, bright sunshine and the blue ocean. So lately at home, I am hanging around a lot with this necklace. And also, within the last one month I have bought several things with this summer color for my home. See the toilet bowl freshener below as an example. moving-animated-eyes-finger-pointing-down

Coming back to my hair, I have an issue when I need to let it fall down ’cause then it needs styling. The problem is that when I have it styled at a hairdresser, my hair looks perfect for 2 days like below photos of Day 1 and Day 2 from the last week’s hairdresser visit.

Day 3 and I wash my hair, and then the issue starts… You know, I have some of the most sophisticated hairstyling equipments like the below hairdryer of Braun.

But no matter how hard I try, I can never style it to look perfect like one done by a hairdresser. For example, below hairstyle of mine looked so perfect when I left the hairdresser. But when I tried to do the same at home, I could never make the hair ends turn inwards…

So determined to learn the technique, last week I took the video of the styling process. And here it is for you and me to watch and learn from Jonas:

After taking this video, I haven’t watched it to study and apply, but I am hoping that I can learn something from the video…

But what if I can’t? What if I still can’t give my hair a satisfactory style? What then?

Then maybe I just keep running around with my ponytail, looking and feeling like a girl and not like a woman?

“I’m Not A Girl, Not Yet A Woman”

I used to think
I had the answers to everything,
But now I know
Life doesn’t always go my way, yeah…
Feels like I’m caught in the middle
That’s when I realize…[Chorus:]
I’m not a girl,
Not yet a woman.
All I need is time,
A moment that is mine,
While I’m in between.

[Verse 2]
I’m not a girl,
There is no need to protect me.
It’s time that I
Learn to face up to this on my own.
I’ve seen so much more than you know now,
So don’t tell me to shut my eyes.

I’m not a girl,
But if you look at me closely,
You will see it in my eyes.
This girl will always find
Her way.

I’m not a girl
(I’m not a girl don’t tell me what to believe).
Not Yet a woman
(I’m just trying to find the woman in me, yeah).
All I need is time (All I need),
A moment that is mine (That is mine),
While I’m in between.

I’m not a girl
Not yet a woman (not now)
All I need is time (All I need),
A moment that is mine,
While I’m in between.

I’m not a girl,
Not yet a woman.

I was Born Female

I was born female. Whoever sent me here didn’t ask my preference before sending me to this earth. S/he said “Here is your female gender, put it on and go to work!” And I landed on earth.

And when I went to work in that female gender, I was ok with it until my 5th grade. But starting from 6th grade, it began to feel wrong.

It began to feel wrong and the older I got, the wrongness of it grew larger. And one day in February, at the age of 29+, it reached its climax and then suddently it vanished as if it never existed. And ever since then I started feeling right inside my female gender.

So here I want to share with you what I use for some parts of my female gender skin and tonight’s topic is EYE SHADOW.

Just like I do my grocery shopping weekly, I go on a good-stuff-hunting trip to Hauptwache (for those who don’t know, Hauptwache is the shopping center of Frankfurt) on a weekly basis. And during my yesterday’s trip, I found the following good stuff at Claire’s.

As you see, it’s a GIANT eyeshadow set with 63 different shades in it. And it costs only 14.99 euro. And if you divide the cost by the number of shades, you find that one shade costs less than 24 cents.

And because its price was so affordable, I was sceptical about its quality. But on the other hand, SPRING time is here and I wanna wear colors, so I decided to give it a shot and brought it home.

And this morning I put on the rose shades because rose is the color of success this year. (Don’t believe me? Then read about it by clicking here.)

And when I applied the lightest rose shade on my eyes’ delicate skin, I was pleasantly pleased with how my skin accepted its fine texture. I applied it wide and broad, only leaving some space for white shadow underneath my eyebrows.

Then I grabbed a slightly darker shade of rose and applied it little less broadly. After that I applied the darkest shade of dry rose and the rest was my usual morning make-up routine.

So how did I like this GIANT eyeshadow set?

Well… it’s too good to be true!

You know why?

For the past 2-3 years, until late last January, I had been using only below shade of MAC. Its number is A14 in case you’re curious.

After firing several eyeshadow brands from work, I stayed on only with it because its texture smoothly blends into my delicate skin. And I never second-guessed it or tried to make its life difficult by putting on too much demands and pressure on it. As a matter of fact, I just trusted it and left it alone.

But the problem with it is that it is so expensive! One single shade costs me 19 euro… But that’s not the reason I brought others into work in late January.

Anyway, if I were to buy 63 shades of this MAC eyeshadow to create the same GIANT eyeshadow set as above, I would have needed 1197 euro for a set. And compare that cost to the 14.99 euro Claire’s eyeshadow, which offers pretty much the same quality!

And that’s why, because of the amazing price and quality combination, I am saying that Claire’s GIANT eyeshadow set above is a too-good-to-be-true product.

And before I go, I wanna make a comment on my eyebrows in the headpicture of this post, where you see the above-mentioned rose shades on display.

The thing is, my least favorite part on this photo is my pair of eyebrows, which looks like downward facing bird wings. Look at below eagle wings to compare with my eyebrows.

Aren’t the inflection angles identical? And don’t they look a little silly because they’re facing down?

You know, until I took this picture, I hadn’t noticed the shape of my eyebrows. But once I noticed them, now I wanna do something about them.

And what should I do about them?

I think I should raise the ends of my “wingbrows” and create a shape that looks like the successful-looking eagle below.

And what do you think about that?

Rainy, Teary Days…

Today I would like to introduce you to one of my favourite Rituals products, and that is the Mild Eye Make-up Remover. See below for how it looks. finger-pointing-down-animation-gif

Earlier I told you that Rituals’ shower gel (click here to see how it looks) is THE product that makes me freak out as soon as its bottle starts getting light…

Well, that’s true, and there is also the 2nd product (this eye makeup remover in the picture I mean) that has the same effect, but less bad because I consume it slower (like one bottle of it every 2 months versus 1 bottle of shower gel every 3-4 weeks).

In above picture, you see the happy 2 bottles together–one new and the other old. The new one is the standing one and the old one is the one leaning on it because its bones can’t hold it straight any longer. Hence, it has to lean on the young one.

So together, they are happy. And them being together makes me very happy because as soon as this eye makeup remover’s bones start getting light, I start freaking out, thinking “What if this one finishes before I can get hold of a new one… Then…” And I start imagining things…

Well, when I start imagining things, my biggest fear is the MaxFactor mascara “False Lash Effect”.  See below. finger-pointing-down-animation-gif

The reason for being afraid of it is that no amount of soap and water can wash it off. As it says on the label, it is WATERPROOF… That’s it!

So unless I have a good oil-based eye makeup remover, I am stuck with this mascara. Imagine going to bed with a thick layer of mascara… (See? This is how I start imagining things…)

My feelings towards this mascara is quite mixed. On the positive side, it really does what it preaches on the label. But on the negative side, it is just TOO waterproof… In fact, unless you’re acting in a rainy scene movie or going through a very emotional period with sudden bursts of tears every day, this mascara is just “too good” for you.

For example, today I shed many big teardrops while writing my How to Bury My Flowers? story and not a thing was spoilt in my makeup after some heavy teardrops. And you see its evidence in this crying picture of mine.

…So that was me officially introducing you to my 2nd favorite Rituals product, and in short, this eye makeup remover is the solution if no amount of rain and tears can wash off your eye makup.

Cosmetics Bottles Revisited

Here is the issue: I shower twice daily and I use Rituals’ shower gel. And if I am addicted to, or depended on anything at all, it is this shower gel of Rituals that you see in the head picture.

So at the speed of 2-showers-daily I consume one bottle of shower gel every 3-4 weeks. And when the bottle I am currently using starts to feel light in weight, I begin to freak out, afraid that it might finish before I manage to buy a new one.

So over time I have become religious about keeping a spare one in stock, and only after I have bought that spare one, I can sit down with it and enjoy inner peace like a Buddha.

Rituals Laughing Buddha Collection Review (4)

Now you might ask why am I so addicted to this particular shower gel of Rituals…

Well, it’s because I am impatient. shy

Flower Girl

When I was going down in the elevator, all dolled-up to go to my InterNations New Comers’ event, another dolled-up girl walked in. A Flower Girl 🙂

She looked so pretty, so I couldn’t resist capturing her beauty on my camera before the elevator stopped on the ground floor.

And thinking back, for the makeover, I wonder if she had gotten inspiration from this picture I found on Google Image…

And I hope to run into her once again so that I can get her number to arrange a makeover for my next monthly InterNations New Comers’ event.
